Start with species and life stage
Needs vary by species, size, age, and health. Check product guidance and reliable avian-care sources instead of applying one ratio to every bird. Ask an avian veterinarian about special health needs.
moimoi offers general reference information, not prescription diets.
Record both the product and the response
A product name alone does not show whether it is actually eaten. Add a simple response such as likes, neutral, or leaves it.
- Current food and treats
- Preference by bird
- Purchase date and expected replacement
- Changes noticed after first feeding
Introduce new food gradually
Avoid replacing the entire existing diet at once. Track whether your bird actually eats the new food, and contact a professional if your bird stops eating or shows unusual changes.
A product note for your next purchase
This is a note template suggested by moimoi, not a product recommendation or nutritional assessment. Separate packaging details from observations to avoid accidentally buying another variant of the same brand.
- Label: brand, exact product name, particle size, intended species
- Storage: opening date, expiry date, packaging instructions
- By bird: date offered, eating observed or not, leftovers and spillage
- Next purchase: buy again or leave the decision open
Replace “likes it” with an observation
Illustrative example: Instead of “likes the new food,” write “offered the new product today; saw the bird pick it up and eat, but did not measure leftovers.” Crumbs or an empty bowl alone do not establish intake.
If several products change together, it is harder to connect changes to a specific product. Note the product and date, then add observations. This does not prescribe transition speed or feeding amounts. If eating or condition changes, contact an avian clinic before continuing product comparisons.
