Observe first for the first days
Keep the same food and routine at first, and check whether your bird eats and drinks while you are nearby. Curiosity returns quickly, and daily records show the change.
Leave handling until food and water are stable — being comfortable eating near you comes first.
- Keep the same food and treats
- Check eating and drinking near people
- Record anything you change, with the date
Read biting as a signal, not a personality
Lovebirds have strong beaks, so bites feel dramatic. What matters is when they happen. If bites repeat in the same situations, record those situations.
Stop one step before the situation that triggers a bite and slow down. Repeated records show what your bird is guarding and which step was skipped.
Record food and weight per bird
If your bird prefers seeds, track whether the amount stays steady and how vegetables or pellets are received. Change one thing at a time, days apart.
Weight changes hide under feathers. Weigh at a fixed time under the same conditions, and moimoi shows the trend per bird.
- Record amounts and newly tried foods
- Weigh at the same time and conditions
- Keep records per bird, even in pairs
Do more than record a concern
If appetite or weight keeps dropping, or activity and sounds stay unusual, contact a clinic that treats birds. moimoi does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.
