Why are my Eclectus' feathers turning black?

My male Eclectus is about 5–6 months old, and his feathers have developed black patches over the past few weeks. He ate mostly sunflower seeds until recently; I've started adding fresh vegetables and reducing seeds. What could be causing this discoloration?
